Active Directory & Exchange (XEDA)

The Campus Active Directory provides Microsoft's Active Directory functions, services and applications, including Exchange email and calendaring.

Andrew File System (AFS)

AFS is a distributed file system that enables co-operating hosts (clients and servers) to efficiently share file system resources across both the local area and wide area networks. The AFS file systems allow members of the campus community to copy files, move files, edit files, share files, distribute them on and off campus, and back them up, regardless of what machine they are using or where that machine is located. This is available to campus users via the MyUCDavis portal and for business applications.

Authentication Services

Authentication refers to the process by which the identity of a user can be verified online. The campus Distributed Authentication (Distauth) Service provides a means by which access to protected campus Web-based information and services can be restricted.

Banner, SISWeb & other Student Information Services

Student Information Services include Banner, SISWeb, SIS Decision Support, and others. Banner, the UC Davis Student Information System provides the university administrators access to and control of student information which is stored in a central database. SISWEB provides registered students, prospective undergraduates, and prospective graduates access to application status, class schedules, financial aid status and much more. SIS Decision Support is a web-based reporting system which provides student and instructional related data pertaining to course section information, course enrollment and instructional workload statistics. The Undergraduate Admissions website is for prospective students and applicants who are considering applying or enrolling to UC Davis.

Campus Data Warehouse

The Campus Data Warehouse is a central information repository with integrated data from different systems throughout the campus, primarily the Banner Student Information System and the Payroll Personnel System (PPS).

Directory Services (LDAP)

Directory services such as LDAP provide authorized users and services on the network with an integrated source of data regardless of where or how the data is stored. LDAP makes it possible for almost any application running on virtually any computer platform to obtain directory information, such as email addresses.

Domain Name Service (DNS)

The Domain Name Service provides a two-way translation so computers can understand the text-based addresses that are convenient for us to use to access Internet resources such as web pages.

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) allows a user to access the network through one of many NAMs without changing computer settings.

Financial Information Services (DaFIS)

DaFIS is the Financial Information System for the University of California, Davis. DaFIS includes a Transaction Processing environment, and a Web-based Decision Support system. These systems and others are available to primary business users at UC Davis.

ISUN Login

The ISUN Login service provides interactive UNIX logins.

MyUCDavis portal & major services

The MyUCDavis portal integrates several UC Davis Web applications and online services into one convenient and secure location. It provides a single access point for information, tools, and resources for students, faculty, and staff. Course Management, Gradebook, Quiz Builder, email, document sharing, UC policy information, and campus news are just a few of the features available within MyUCDavis.

Payroll & Personnel System (PPS)

The Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) gives departments inquiry and update access to the payroll system, which is maintained by Office of the President. This system includes employees' payroll, personal, benefits, time reporting (OPTRS) and pay check information.

PPS Decision Support

The web-based reporting system provides departments, dean's offices and central offices access to their employees appointments, payroll expenses and staffing information.

PPS Data Warehouse

The Payroll Personnel System Data Warehouse contains the current payroll and personnel data for University of California employees. It is the result of a joint project between the campus' central administrative offices and Information Technology.

Usenet News

The Usenet server, news.ucdavis.edu, maintains over 18,000 newsgroups which are organized by topic categories. Local ucd groups can be created to support classes, departments, and student groups.
