Software updates for the iPhone
If you have a first generation iPhone or a 3G, there is a 3.x software upgrade. Updates are available for the first-generation, 3G and 3G[s]when connected to iTunes.
New iPhones
The iPhone 3G[s] is the latest iPhone from Apple. It is now available in retail stores, at AT&T stores, and other authorized resellers, for personal use and through IET-Communication Resources for Departmental use. When determining whether to purchase an iPhone, please review the results of the Compatibility Testing to find out whether the software applications and online services frequently used are compatible with the iPhone.
Students
Students can purchase an iPhone through an Apple store or authorized reseller.
Faculty and Staff
When purchasing for personal use, staff and faculty should visit and authorized Apple reseller. For departmental University use, please check with your department. Departments can purchase iPhones from IET-Communication Resources.
Departments
When purchasing new phones or departments, technology support staff should review the results of the software application and online service compatibility testing to determine whether the iPhone will integrate into their existing infrastructure and work with frequently used services and software.
Thank you to the individuals and groups who generously volunteered their time and expertise to test the various applications against the iPhone (view the list of volunteers).
