Greetings,

In response to Apple's release of its latest operating system, Leopard, this past Friday, October 26, Information and Educational Technology (IET) is coordinating a campus-wide compatibility testing effort, similar to that coordinated last winter in preparation for Microsoft's release of Vista.

PLANNING
Our goal is to complete this project within the next month, providing useful information to the campus by the end of November. In order to do so, we have made the following plans:

* We have developed a test plan to be used as a general guideline for testing the compatibility of various applications used widely on campus.
* The Software License Coordination (SLC) unit will coordinate with the TIF-CSI subcommittee to discuss plans for Mac OS licensing.
* A campus Macintosh Web site is under development, which will include a compatibility matrix, licensing information, links, and other useful information. The compatibility matrix will reside within Confluence so that testing volunteers may add and update information regarding their respective application(s).

COMPATIBILITY TESTING
In order to complete this project efficiently and to make good use of the wealth of expertise that exists within our campus technical community, we would like to request your assistance with this very large undertaking. You can help by:

* Submitting suggestions for applications and services to be tested (please see the list of applications that are already being considered for testing below).
* Volunteering to test or to assist with testing of an application or service.
