UC Davis Mac OS Leopard Compatibility Testing
(11/20/07)News & Announcements
Greetings,
In this week's update on the Mac OS X Leopard compatibility testing, I would like to provide a brief reminder about the Apple Leopard presentations scheduled next week, the continued work of many volunteers to test various applications against Leopard and Safari 3, and the planned release of a campus Macintosh Web site.
LEOPARD PRESENTATIONS - NOVEMBER 26
Two presentations are scheduled on Monday, November 26 (next week!), and they are open to the campus technical community. A two-hour presentation in the morning will cover the Leopard server, including a live demo, and a one-hour presentation in the afternoon will cover the Leopard client, including information on new features and differences between Leopard and the previous version of Mac OS X, Tiger. For the full agenda, please visit https://jukebox.ucdavis.edu/slc/Information/Apple/20071126_UC_Davis_Leopard_Presentations.pdf.
The presentations are scheduled as follows; please feel free to attend:
Leopard Server Presentation
2375 Academic Surge
10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Leopard Client Presentation
2375 Academic Surge
1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
APPLICATION TESTING RESULTS
As we've announced in earlier updates, many widely used applications on campus are currently being tested by a number of volunteers with expertise in these applications. These volunteers have been provided with a set of test plans that are general to all applications, and they are expanding on the test criteria as specific to their respective applications. Many applications have now been tested, and volunteers have already started posting their results into our compatibility matrix in Confluence. All testing should be complete and results should be available to the campus community online by November 30th. To get your own testing results published on the Web site, please contact us at ucdleopard@ucdavis.edu.
CAMPUS MACINTOSH WEBSITE
The planned campus Macintosh Web site is currently under development and will include general information about: the release of Leopard and Safari 3, the project scope and testing methods, the campus agreements with Macintosh and how the software licensing works, what the hardware requirements are, the campus recommendations regarding Leopard, and other related information. We plan to launch the Web site next Friday, November 30th.
If you have any questions or comments, please email ucdleopard@ucdavis.edu. We look forward to your feedback.
Regards,
Sarah
