Microsoft Campus Licensing Agreements

Currently, the UC Davis campus community can use two different types of licensing agreements to obtain Microsoft Products—Microsoft Select or the Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement (MCCA).

Microsoft Select
The Select agreement allows any student, faculty, staff member, or department to purchase Microsoft licenses at a very competitive price. This is a UC-wide agreement; there are no minimum requirements and licenses can be purchased at anytime. Purchasing through this agreement can be a cost-effective solution for both licensing and upgrading systems. To purchase Microsoft products under the Select program or for more information, please visit the SHI Web site.

Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement (MCCA)
Any department may enroll in the UC MCCA to license Microsoft products at special UC pricing. Through the MCCA subscription, departments license all the computers and users in their department for 12 months, and are eligible for the latest Microsoft software.

To determine the cost of enrolling in the UC MCCA, a department must calculate the full-time employee (FTE) count. This calculation takes the department’s employee headcount and converts it into an FTE count by applying certain reductions. The FTE count is usually lower than the headcount. When the FTE count is lower than the number of machines the department needs to license, the department saves money. For more information visit the Microsoft Web site: Microsoft Campus Agreement

  • Determining Departmental Coverage
To verify if your department is covered by MCCA, either contact your departmental technical support staff or our SHI account team.

  • Enrollment in the UC MCCA
Enrollment for the 2009-2010 UC MCCA through SHI begins in March (date TBD) and ends on May 8, 2009. Enrollment occurs annually, but departments may also enroll at a prorated cost throughout the year. Please contact the SHI account team for more information.

  • Electronic Download Only
It is important to note that no physical media may be used in conjunction with software licenses obtained via the MCCA because the UC agreement specifies that software may be obtained via electronic download only for tax purposes.
