Microsoft Campus Agreement 3.5 Enhancements

In coordination with the UC Technology Acquisition Support (TAS) group and UCOP, the Software License Coordination (SLC) unit has received information from Microsoft that our Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement (MCCA) now includes the benefits of the latest Microsoft Campus and School Agreement 3.5. We would like to highlight two specific enhancements of this agreement:

1. Home Use Program (HUP) - faculty and staff in departments enrolled in MCCA may now use select Microsoft products for personal use. To view the products available through the HUP, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/sa/benefits/home_use_rights.mspx.

Please note that HUP only covers Office software and not Microsoft operating systems, which are available through the Microsoft Work at Home (WAH) program (see http://iet.ucdavis.edu/microsoft/vista/staff_faculty_software.cfm). HUP Office software run on an operating system acquired through WAH will be limited to work purposes only. To utilize HUP rights for Microsoft Office, the software must be run on an independently acquired OS (for information on obtaining a Microsoft OS through the Select program for personal use, please visit http://iet.ucdavis.edu/microsoft/office2007/staff_faculty_software.cfm#Personal).

In order to utilize HUP rights through MCCA, departments may purchase Microsoft HUP software from our UC software reseller, CDW-G. Detailed purchasing instructions are outlined at http://iet.ucdavis.edu/microsoft/office2007/staff_faculty_software.cfm.

2. Prorated MCCA Enrollment - departments may now enroll in MCCA at any time throughout the year at a prorated cost based on the month of enrollment. The UC system-wide enrollment will still occur annually, as in previous years (during an open-enrollment period, usually in April and May), but this means that departments will be able to add bundles/CALs as needed throughout the year, and previously-unenrolled departments may opt in later. To enquire about enrolling in MCCA in months outside of the annual enrollment period, please contact CDW-G.
