Work At Home (WAH) Rights – MCCA and Select
Staff and faculty in departments licensed via the MCCA and Select program have Microsoft Work-At-Home (WAH) rights, through which they may install Office 2007 for work purposes only on personal computers. Licensed staff and faculty members are entitled to one WAH license per product.
Please note that physical media may not be purchased to enable WAH rights through the MCCA because the agreement specifies that all software must be delivered electronically for tax purposes.
Staff and faculty who wish to take advantage of WAH rights should contact their departments. To utilize WAH rights, departments have three options to install the software:
- Departments may install the software directly onto staff and faculty personal computers. To install the software, departmental technical support staff will need to request the campus Volume Licensing Keys (VLK) from the Software License Coordination (SLC) unit. This key may not be distributed to staff and faculty to install the software themselves; the software (which can be downloaded from http://download.ucdavis.edu) must be installed directly by the department.
- Departments may create an encrypted file for Office and distribute duplicated media to staff and faculty. The VLK must NOT be accessible in clear text format and must be encrypted. For instructions on encrypting a VLK into Office, please visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178982.aspx
- Desktop Enterprise Solutions, a unit within IET that provides computer and network consulting services, can also provide this service to departments on a fee basis.
