Overview

Campuswide Information Technology Policy and Planning

  • Reorganization
    The internal restructuring of our IT organization (initiated several months ago by Vice Provost Bruno) is almost complete. This reorganization establishes four distinct lines of services: communications, computing, document, and instructional technology and digital media services.
         --> More on Reorganization.

  • Vice Provost's Team Expands
    Two key positions in the Vice Provost's Office were filled this summer: the Chief Operating Officer and the Security Coordinator.
         --> More on Vice Provost's Team.

  • Instructional Technology and Digital Media Center
    Developed over the last few months, the new center integrates under one roof a host of services previously provided by several IT units. The center was established to help faculty who seek assistance with, or are interested in, instructional technologies.
         --> More on Instructional Technology and Digital Media Center.

  • UC Davis Information Technology Coordinating Framework
    The UC Davis Technology Infrastructure Forum will hold its first meeting on September 27.

    The Academic and Administrative Computing Coordinating Councils (AC4 and AdC3, respectively) continued to meet over the summer, addressing topics ranging from MyUCDavis, WebCT, and ResNet to IS-3 security guidelines and the Library proxy server.
         --> More on Technology Coordinating Framework.

  • Student Computer Ownership Workgroup
    Beginning in Fall 2001, a new statement of expectation on computer ownership developed by the Academic Computing Coordinating Council will apply to all entering UC Davis undergraduate students.

  • Web Content Management Workgroup
    A workgroup was recently created to explore tools and technologies to produce, deliver, and maintain content on the Web. The group, composed of IT and campus representatives, is expected to select a Web content management tool for use in a pilot this Fall or early Winter.
