Starting now, Online TAF is active. The new process replaces the paper-based temporary affiliate form--and, according to a message from IT Express publicizing the startup, the change will "radically expedite the process of granting a temporary affiliate access to a UC Davis computing account."
Temporary affiliates are visiting instructors, vendors and other people who need short-term access to UC Davis systems. They previously had to apply for a personal campus computing account by paper, which could take days. Online TAF moves the procedure to the Web.
"Basically it takes an inconvenient paper process and turns it into a simple, fast process," said Debbie Lauriano, director of Application Development for Information and Educational Technology. The change should prove popular with faculty and others who routinely work with off-campus colleagues.
