IT Times named best in category

Two campus tech publications--the IT Times and a set of seven IET posters for Unitrans buses--have again won honors from a nationwide group that focuses on information technology services in higher education.

The spring 2007 IT Times won best of category among printed computing newsletters, and the 2006-07 posters won an "award of excellence" among general service promotional materials, from SIGUCCS, the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services.

The IT Times and the posters are produced by the Information and Events unit of Information and Educational Technology, headquartered at 3820 Chiles Road. The unit is led by Babette Schmitt, director of strategic planning and communications for IET, and Publications Manager Roger Ashton. Bill Buchanan edits and writes for the IT Times, and Caren Weintraub designs the newsletter.

SIGUCCS announced this year's winners at its annual conference from Oct. 7-10 in Orlando, Fla. The IET unit's publications have won 21 first-, second- or third-place awards from the group since 2000.
