As we begin a new academic year, UC Davis is warning students, faculty and staff to be vigilant against phishing scams. Scams aimed at taking over accounts and redirecting payroll deposits are on the rise. These attempts may come in the form of emails from real, but compromised, UC Davis accounts and may look legitimate.
Do not respond! Responding to a phishing scam puts you, your data, your identity and your finances at risk.
The Information Security Symposium, held May 12-13, 2026, attracted 358 attendees and featured some outstanding presentations. The event was successful overall, covering current industry events, trends, and best practices for the cybersecurity community.
Providing UC Davis students, faculty and staff with comprehensive education about the ever-evolving landscape of digital threats is a key focus for Information and Educational Technology’s Information Security Office (ISO). They foster a culture of digital safety throughout the academic year with a combination of seasonal awareness campaigns, targeted cybersecurity threat guidance, and actionable digital hygiene best practices.
