About Aggie AI
Aggie AI is UC Davis's innovative ecosystem of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and services designed specifically for the UC Davis community. Our generative AI (GenAI) strategy is anchored in our campus values and powered by our vendor partners. Guiding principles include:
- Ethical Use & Security: UC Davis is committed to the responsible use of AI. Through partnerships with Microsoft, OpenAI, and other vendors, the university ensures rigorous security protections via UC contracts. These safeguards help mitigate risks associated with AI technologies, maintaining privacy and upholding principles of ethical innovation.
- Scalability & Flexibility: Our GenAI strategy emphasizes building a flexible AI infrastructure that adapts to evolving technologies. Leveraging scalable cloud infrastructure, UC Davis is positioned to meet increasing AI demands without over-relying on on-campus resources.
Introducing Rocky, from Aggie AI
Rocky, from Aggie AI, is UC Davis's first GenAI chat tool, built as a collaboration between the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and Information and Educational Technology (IET). Whether you’re a student, faculty, or staff member, Rocky is the personal assistant you can use to navigate your life at UC Davis.
- In fall 2024, Rocky and Aggie AI are in closed beta: this means that we are still testing its features and functionality.
- A pilot is open to select students, faculty, and staff whose feedback we will use optimize Rocky for wider release. If you are interested in joining the pilot, please fill out the interest form below.
- You must be part of the pilot to access and use Rocky and Aggie AI.
Rocky can help you with:
- UC Davis policies and procedures, such as travel reimbursement, employee benefits, or academic requirements.
- Campus life, such as events, places to eat, study, and meet friends and colleagues.
Rocky works best when you:
- Ask specific questions: the more specific you are and the more context you provide, the more accurate Rocky's answers will be.
- Start a conversation: you can ask follow-up questions, and Rocky will refine its answers based on your prompts.
- Use thumbs up & thumbs down: give Rocky immediate feedback about the accuracy and relevance of its answers.
- Check the source material: Rocky uses university information and sometimes may run into outdated content. It is always a good idea to double-check Rocky's answers.
