The UC Davis Digital Lab enables students to access virtual course-required software from anywhere at any time leveraging their own device(s). The Digital Lab is in pilot in spring 2026. As a pilot, we rely on feedback from students to ensure the final service offering meets community needs.

General Digital Lab
Provides access to a broad set of commonly used software, which will meet the needs of most students. This environment is well-suited for coursework involving extensive writing, life sciences and light data analysis. Examples include:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Stata, R & RStudio, and data analysis tools
- Visual Studio Code, Python and programming tools
- Adobe Acrobat Reader and media utilities (VLC, Audacity)
- Web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
Enhanced Digital Lab
Supports more demanding, graphics-intensive software, commonly used in design, engineering, and geographic information systems (GIS) classes. Examples include:
- ArcGIS Pro
- Blender
- Handbrake
- Paint.Net
- Rhino
