Frequently Asked Questions

  • What’s the difference between ChatGPT-4, GPT-4.5, and GPT-4.5-mini?
  • GGPT-4 is a text-only model with limited multimodal capabilities, mainly used for text generation. It is available to paid subscribers.

GPT-4.5 (also referred to as GPT-4o) is designed for multimodal capabilities (text, image, and audio inputs/outputs) with enhanced real-time conversation, better cost efficiency, and support for over 50 non-English languages. It’s available with a free tier (with usage limits) and a premium version for paid users.

GPT-4.5-mini is a lightweight model optimized for free-tier users. It’s faster and more cost-efficient compared to GPT-3.5, providing improved performance and enhanced intelligence while maintaining similar speed to GPT-3.5.

  • How does OpenAI use my personal data?
  • OpenAI's large language models are trained on a broad corpus of text that includes publicly available content, licensed content, and content generated by human reviewers. They say they don’t use data for selling their services, advertising, or building profiles of people—instead using data to make their models more helpful for people. ChatGPT, for instance, improves by further training on the conversations people have with it, unless you choose to disable training.
  • What is a hallucination?
  • A hallucination refers to when ChatGPT produces outputs that seem plausible but are incorrect or fabricated. To minimize the likelihood of hallucinations, be as specific as possible with prompts. For example, you might say, “You are an expert in public speaking,” to guide the model toward more accurate and relevant responses.
