AFS outage was solved quickly

The AFS distributed authentication service suffered a temporary outage starting at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The cause of the problem was quickly identified, and the service was restored for most secure systems served by AFS within the hour.

During the outage, any service requiring access to AFS space--including DaFIS, Banner, MyUCDavis, DistAuth, CAS, Geckomail and SmartSite--was unable to respond. As access was restored, Data Center administrators discovered additional issues with the Banner/SISWeb service, but had those problems fixed by 6:15 p.m.

The service was functioning normally on Tuesday.
