ALERT! Beware of New Virus Email

A bogus email message claiming to be from "Ucdavis Security Department" threatens to suspend the recipient's account for security reasons. The message includes a link to download a file that will initiate a Mytob virus variant and establish an IRC backdoor on the newly infected computer.

Recipients are strongly advised to ignore this message. UC Davis does not ask email account holders to confirm email addresses.

For additional information, see http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_MYTOB.KM
