Campus updates free Internet Tools CD

The latest version of the free UC Davis Internet Tools CD is now available.

The CD, free to faculty, staff and UC Davis students, includes the latest versions of Sophos Anti-Virus (v. 7) and EndNote bibliographic software, plus various security tools to help keep computers safe when online.

Older editions of the CD (dated September 2007 on the disc) contain Sophos v.6. If this older version of Sophos is installed on a computer with a connection to the Internet before May 30, 2008, it will automatically update itself to the most current version and continue to provide up-to-date virus protection. But if this older version is installed on or after May 30, it will not automatically update itself to the most current version. Nor will it receive virus definition updates--in other words, it won't protect against viruses.

To ensure that your computer is protected and meets UC Davis cyber-safety requirements, says an advisory from the UC Davis Software License Coordination Unit, please make sure that you have the most current version of Sophos installed.

Get a copy of the new CD at the IT Express Help Desk in Shields Library, or download the software from the Software Web site.
