Communication Resources, except for its storehouse, will move in December
Communications Resources is proceeding with plans to move to a new location west of Highway 113, with one significant change. Its storehouse is staying on the main campus.
Communications Resources (IET-CR), the telecommunications department of Information and Educational Technology, has been based in a set of modular buildings southeast of the Tercero dormitories. In two phases from Dec. 11 through Dec. 21, IET-CR will move to its new home west of the University Airport, just north of the Hopkins Road Services Complex.
The new location's address is 3213 Apiary Drive.
One difference from the initial plan is that the storehouse has moved to Surge III. People visit the storehouse to buy equipment, and IET-CR technicians pick up material there for projects, service orders, and repairs. "It makes a lot of sense to keep the storehouse here on the main campus, as it will be far more convenient for our customers," said Mark Redican, senior manager for IET-CR.
A new set of modular offices is being built at the west campus site. IET-CR will occupy about 10,000 square feet in the new structure. The department's existing building will be moved and occupied by other UC Davis staff.
The current site near Tercero will become green space as part of an expanded Tercero student housing area.
