Educational Technology Update: Audience Response Systems Improve Student Participation in Large Classes

At UC Berkeley, four instructors in three classrooms are using wireless audience response systems and are finding them useful for increasing interest and interaction in large-enrollment classes. This spring, UC Davis is planning to install them in three of its general assignment lecture halls. These systems, when used for quizzing students during class, have been shown to dramatically increase engagement and participation.
