Email, other services will be temporarily unavailable early May 3

Several services that use the campus Data Center will be unavailable for 15 minutes to an hour starting at 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, while the Data Center upgrades its security firewall.

All services that use the Data Center will be unavailable during that time. They include, but are not limited to, campus email, SmartSite, DaFIS, Banner, and MyInfoVault. The services will function as usual once the work concludes.

Local department services that use CAS or Distauth (UC Davis authentication services that let people sign in for access to computing services) will also be unavailable.

The outage could be as short as 15 minutes. The Data Center is setting aside an additional 30 minutes for troubleshooting, plus 15 minutes to back out any changes, in the unlikely event that proves necessary. The Data Center consulted on the timing of this work with the Academic Senate and major service clients.
