Finalized schedule for 'clicker' demonstrations

The schedule has been finalized for leading vendors of "personal response systems", or "clickers" to present open demonstrations on campus over the next few weeks. This technology has evolved to the point where no infrastructure installation is needed. A discussion has also been scheduled at the conclusion of the demos to gather feedback that will help inform the selection of a campus standard for the 2006-07 academic year. The schedule:

    August 3, 10:00-11:30 a.m., eInstruction, 2205 Haring

    August 14, 3:30-5:00 p.m., InterWrite, 307 Surge IV

    August 15, 10:00-11:30 a.m., iClicker, 307 Surge IV

August 15, 3:00-4:00 p.m., Discussion and selection of campus standard, 307 Surge IV

Each session will start with a 30- to 60-minute vendor demonstration, followed by about 30 minutes of questions and answers.

"Personal response systems", also known as audience response systems provide the ability for the presenter to ask a question of the audience and receive immediate feedback. An article in the spring 2006 IT Times explores how this technology is being used by several instructors on campus to improve class participation and attendance.

Turning Technologies gave a demonstration in mid-July and will be included in the selection discussion.
