Gradebook will be upgraded Feb. 18

Information and Educational Technology will upgrade the widely used Gradebook 2 grading tool on Friday, Feb. 18.

The new version, v1.4.0, makes several improvements. The list includes:

  • The ability to import gradebooks from other SmartSite course sites
  • Better statistical display of scores that exceed 100 percent
  • Greater error-checking, and reduced potential for unexpected behavior
  • User interface fix for scrolling while editing a score (it corrects a situation where scrolling loses the newly entered score).

Gradebook 2's basic appearance will not change.

The SmartSite team will install the upgrade during the service's routine monthly maintenance window, which is scheduled from 10 p.m. Feb. 18 to 8 a.m. Feb. 19. SmartSite will be unavailable during the window.

Gradebook 2 is a key part of SmartSite, which faculty, students and staff have been using since 2007 to manage coursework and collaborate online at UC Davis. About 6,500 to 7,000 people use SmartSite at any average time during the workweek. Activity nearly doubles during finals week and other peak periods.
