IT Express will close for Thanksgiving, but you can always check xbase
The IT Express Computing Services Help Desk will reduce its hours during the long Thanksgiving weekend, but anyone who needs its help during the holiday can still tap its online library of more than 1,000 help documents.
IT Express, available at 530 754-HELP (4357), will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, and re-open at 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2.
The IT Express xbase knowledge base includes articles written by ITX consultants on topics ranging from a short LoginID and Kerberos passphrase FAQ and instructions on connecting smartphones to wireless and email to managing an email list using Sympa and closing a UC Davis account. The site's search function can help you find the article you want.
A word of holiday caution about odd messages
Scammers frequently send their phishing attempts and other frauds during holidays, nights, and weekends. If you receive email attachments you weren't expecting, or if an email message looks at all suspicious, either discard or set it aside until you can verify that the communication is legitimate.
Some senders of genuine campus messages that might be mistaken for spam list their messages at the Registry of Authentic Messages page. Read more about cybersecurity at security.ucdavis.edu.
