Learn how SmartSite can help manage campus office work

Campus managers, administrators and other business-side staffers are invited to a free special session July 9 that will show how their colleagues are using SmartSite to share documents, coordinate schedules, work together, and generally find better ways to do various administrative tasks.

"SmartSite for Business Management and Collaboration" will meet from 11 a.m. to noon in room 3001 of the Plant & Environmental Sciences Building.

SmartSite is the main campus system for doing academic work and research online, but it also offers staff employees useful tools for managing projects or other administrative tasks. The campus, for example, created a project site using SmartSite to distribute information about the current budget reductions, and to collect comments and ideas from faculty, staff and students on how to save money.

The special session will be led by SmartSite training coordinators Steve Faith and Fernando Socorro from the Academic Technology Services group of Information and Educational Technology. A memo from SmartSite Program Manager Kirk Alexander said people who attend will:

--See specific examples of how departments are using SmartSite to share resources and improve institutional knowledge.

--Learn about upcoming plans for SmartSite.

--Learn how Socorro and Faith can help them apply innovative business management and collaborative uses of SmartSite in their departments.

Space is limited, so please RSVP to Faith (faith@ucdavis.edu) or Socorro (fsocorro@ucdavis.edu).
