New Allow/Deny Lists Let You Customize Campus Spam Filtering

In a continuing effort to curtail spam, the campus recently enhanced the spam filtering service that was first implemented in May 2003. This service has allowed the campus to scan email passing through the campus email servers and, based on certain pre-set criteria applicable to all email, mark messages as potential spam and route them away from your inbox.

The recent enhancement Allow/Deny Lists -- permits individuals to customize the spam filtering service by specifying certain email addresses from which they always or never want to receive email. Email from addresses on your allow list will always be delivered to your inbox, even if it would otherwise have been filtered out as spam. Email from addresses on your deny list will never be delivered to your inbox, even if it would otherwise have passed through the campus spam filter. Addresses can be added or deleted from either list at any time, and saved changes are effective immediately.
