New Critical Security Patches for Internet Explorer

On October 12, Microsoft released a cumulative security update (MS04-038) for its Internet Explorer Web browser. This update replaces a prior critical security patch for Internet Explorer, MS04-025, which was issued on July 30, 2004 and updated on August 1, 2004. This new patch corrects several known issues, including three critical problems which, if not fixed, could result in remote control of a vulnerable browser. This patch should be applied to Internet Explorer browsers running under Windows NT, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, Server 2003.
