New Microsoft Security Patch for Additional RPC Vulnerabilities

On September 10, 2003, Microsoft released a new security patch, MS03-039. This critical RPC patch supplements the RPC/DCOM updates previously contained in an earlier patch, MS03-026. It is recommended that you test and apply this new MS03-039 patch as soon as possible. The patch is available for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Server 2003. At this time, we are unaware of any exploits that take advantage of the newly identified RPC vulnerabilities. However, the time between the release of a new security patch and a related exploit against computers lacking the security patch seems to be diminishing. It is strongly advised that the MS03-039 patch be installed without delay.
