New workshops added on blogs, podcasts

IET Mediaworks has just added two new workshops to its March training calendar: "Blogging: An Introduction" and "Getting Your Message Heard!???Podcasting."

They're free and open to all instructors, as well as any interested staff and graduate students. Each session will meet in 1131 Meyer.

The blogging workshop comes first, scheduled for 1-3 p.m. March 6. Participants will hear blogging success stories, says the class description, "and get ideas on how to use blogs in your classes without increasing your grading workload. You'll also set up a blog, make your first post, find out how to draw readers to your students' blogs, and learn to track your students' work with an RSS reader."

The podcasting workshop, 10 a.m. to noon March 7, will describe basic concepts in podcasting, examine pedagogical case studies and academic uses, cover recording and editing, and discuss how to make the lectures available to your class or the campus.

For more information on the blogging workshop, write Leslie Madsen-Brooks at ljmadsen@ucdavis.edu. For more on the podcasting workshop, write Steve Faith at faith@ucdavis.edu. (Both are faculty technology training coordinators.)
