Oct. 9 showcase delves into online/hybrid courses at UC Davis

If you're curious about hybrid and online courses at UC Davis, check out the Online and Hybrid Learning Showcase & Workshop Oct. 9 in the Student Community Center.

Participants can hear faculty talk about their experiences, learn about recent developments, and discuss the future of online learning at UC Davis. The event is designed for faculty, but anyone from UC Davis is welcome to attend. Organizers encourage you to register in advance.

From 9 a.m. to noon, a dozen faculty who have designed or taught online and hybrid courses in 2014-15 will present and discuss their experiences in the center's multipurpose room. A concurrent resource fair will display services at UC Davis that can help instructors design and teach an online or hybrid course here.

From 1 to 4 p.m., Dr. Cara Harwood Theisen, educational specialist with the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE), and Dan Comins, instructional designer for Academic Technology Services in Information and Educational Technology (IET-ATS), will lead a workshop for instructors who are interested in integrating technology in their courses, and who may want to design an online or hybrid course in the future.

Sponsors include the School of Education, CEE and IET-ATS. The resource fair will include representatives from ATS\031 Media Services and Faculty Support teams, CEE, UC Davis Extension, Shields Library, and the Student Disability Center.
