Online Privacy Protection Act

Online Privacy Protection Act

On July 1, 2004, a new state became effective that requires commercial Internet Web sites to display an online privacy notice for California residents. The University of California, Office of General Counsel, has determined that this new law is not applicable to the University of California.

Please be aware that some credit card companies require the posting of an information privacy statement for Web sites that accept online credit card transactions. A sample privacy statement for integration with online systems accepting credit card transactions is available via campus directive 01-088 (http://directives.ucdavis.edu/2001/01-088.cfm).
