Preparing for Email Server Upgrade

Information and Educational Technology (IET) is planning to upgrade the central campus email servers during winter break, on December 29, at 10:00 a.m. This software upgrade is necessary to prepare for future technical improvements to the servers such as securing email passwords.

If you access your mail via the campus email servers, you may need to take some steps prior to December 29 in preparation for the upgrade, as outlined below.

Eudora users: see http://itexpress.ucdavis.edu/upgrade/eudora/ for information on whether/how you will be affected by the upgrade and what to do to prepare.

Other email client (Outlook, Entourage, etc.) users: see http://itexpress.ucdavis.edu/upgrade/pop3/ for information on whether/how you will be affected by the upgrade and what to do to prepare.

For more information about the email server upgrade including why the upgrade is occurring, see the server upgrade FAQ.
