Who needs to complete the cybersecurity awareness training?
The mandatory cybersecurity awareness training is required for all UC Davis employees – including faculty, staff, contract employees and student workers by May 28, 2025. You’ll find it in the UC Learning Center. Supervisors: make sure your teams, including student employees, complete the course.
I am a supervisor. How can I tell if my team has completed the cybersecurity awareness training?
Log in to the UC Learning Center (lms.ucdavis.edu) and click the Manager Dashboard in the left menu.
On the Manager Dashboard, your teams, including your student employees, will be listed, including the status of their required training.
What is EDR?
Endpoint detection and response or EDR is a security software that monitors laptops, desktops, and servers for suspicious activity and responds to threats, helping to prevent cyber attacks. The UC-approved EDR solution is Trellix.
Is Trellix required?
Yes. Trellix is required on all UC laptops, desktops and servers (devices) that are on the university network, whether they are paid for by UC Davis or with grants. Your unit’s IT professionals can help you install Trellix.
Does Trellix track my computer use?
No. In the event your device is subject to a serious cybersecurity compromise or attack, you will be asked to grant the Information Security Office permission to investigate the issue and access your device.
Does Trellix track the websites I visit?
Trellix logs websites visited for the sake of identifying the source of a cyberattack, similar to other antivirus software programs. This is kept on the device and not sent to Trellix or the UC Davis Information Security Office.
