New technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence and virtual reality, are expected to fundamentally change how we learn, teach, conduct research, and engage with one another.  

With strategic intent, Information and Educational Technology (IET) is at the forefront of these changes: from delivering technology services at scale to piloting new tools and platforms, we advance teaching, learning, research, and community service, and elevate our campus visibility locally, nationally, and globally. 

Our initiatives advance UC Davis’s mission and goals, effectively positions our institution in the higher education marketplace, and  helps to shape the future of higher education. Our teams keep pace with technology changes, cultivate institutional agility, and prioritize sustainable service offerings and continuous improvement.   

The 2023-2024 Technology Impact Report highlights some of our accomplishments in the six key areas identified in the UC Davis strategic plan.  

Our initiatives build the university’s future through a shared institutional vision and collaborative action plan, anchored in our commitment to student success, sustainable operations, and effective risk management. We leverage the power of data and technology to transform teaching, learning, research, and work at UC Davis, building a global community of learners, innovators, and lifelong connections.  

I am grateful to everyone in IET whose work ethic and resilience brought these initiatives to fruition. I am also grateful for the collaboration and partnership of technologists, faculty, and administrators across campus and across the UC system who transform our collective experience at UC Davis.
