December 15, 2020

Dear UC Davis Community:

This communication is a reminder of the campus closure from December 21st to January 3rd. Although campus has modified the curtailment from a hard closure to a soft closure, Information and Educational Technology (IET) will primarily be shut down. As much as possible, please submit all routine or known actions to the appropriate unit on or before December 17th to allow a response prior to the closure. Emergency contacts should be used only for truly urgent and emergency purposes.

All administrative units in IET will be closed for business during the curtailment period. IET will continue to monitor systems and respond to emergencies. IET staff will also be supporting essential services such as cyber security and network operations, and provide support to a few other units such as undergraduate admissions and financial aid.

The following units/offices may be open for business but will be operating at lower staff capacity than normal:

  • IT Express help desk will be staffed from 8am to 5pm on workdays (Dec. 21, 22, 23 and Dec. 28, 29, 30). After hours, the existing call option to have Data Center Operations paged will be available. As these come in, they will be assessed and, if not urgent, response will be delayed until after curtailment - on January 4th, 2021. As usual, requests for afterhours Duo support will be directed to the UC Davis Health Technology Operations Center.
  • Network Engineering will be limited to working in support of sensitive construction projects and preparations for Winter Quarter.
  • Risk and Safety Solutions will be supporting UC system-wide and commercial customers.

We ask that any support or change requests be submitted with sufficient time to complete these actions prior to the business closure.

UC Davis Health System members should contact your Health IT support services during this time.

IT Express can be reached at (530) 754-HELP (4357). The UC Davis Health Technology Operations Center can be reached at (916) 734-4357.

Sincerely,
