Duo update: On Jan. 15, 2020, all remaining unenrolled staff will be enrolled

About 90 percent of UC Davis staff have enrolled in Duo multi-factor authentication, and now it’s time to enroll the rest. On Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, these changes will occur:

  •  All staff and student staff who have not yet signed up for Duo will be enrolled in the service.
  • The campus will place Office 365 accounts, including email, behind Duo. Some campus units might decide to take this step earlier than Jan. 15.

DavisMail will also be placed behind Duo no later than Jan. 15, only for staff and student staff currently enrolled in Duo. Students, faculty, and others who are not yet required to use Duo will still be able to access DavisMail without Duo.

This action complies with a mandate from campus administration, and will further strengthen the security of accounts, information, and privacy at UC Davis.

What this means for you

If this change affects you, you will be sent an email from the IT Express Service Desk with additional information, links to instructions, and sources where you can ask questions or find help.

Staff and student staff began enrolling in Duo more than a year ago. For most, the only change they’ll see starting Jan. 15 is that they’ll enter their Duo credentials when they log in to Office 365, just like they do now for other campus accounts.

Some staff or student staff with older hardware and email software might need help from their department’s technology office or IT Express. See “Will Duo work with my Office 365 email?

Updates and additional information will be posted to movetoduo.ucdavis.edu. If you have questions, please contact your department’s tech support, or the IT Express Service Desk at 530-754-HELP (4357).
