Critical Patch for Microsoft Internet Explorer
On July 30, Microsoft Corporation released a critical security update for its Internet Explorer Web browser. The vulnerabilities are present in Internet Explorer, versions 5.01, 5.5 and 6.0. It is strongly recommended that this cumulative security patch be installed.
This update will address vulnerabilities that could permit a remote attacker to take control of a vulnerable computer or create a denial of service condition for a vulnerable computer. Reports indicate that inadvertent execution of malicious image files (e.g., GIF and BMP) or execution of a malicious Web site address could permit a browser exploit to occur.
