Siegel extends search for new campus IT architect
Chief Information Officer Pete Siegel is continuing the search for a new campus information technology architect.
Siegel, also vice provost for Information and Educational Technology, announced his decision in a letter he sent to campus technology leaders, groups and IET staff on Monday.
The two finalists for the job had been Russ Hobby, program manager of Internet2; and Ken Weiss, technical director of investor services for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. Each gave public talks in the Memorial Union in late July.
Siegel thanked everyone who has helped the search so far, and said he carefully considered the "wide range of thoughtful comments" he received.
"The two finalists were technically strong in their respective areas of expertise," Siegel wrote, "[but] we are committed to finding candidates with the complex combination of technical skills, community engagement, collaboration, and overall experience outlined in the position description."
"We are therefore officially continuing our search for candidates," he said, "and are exploring several options for the next phase of this recruitment."
