Free seminar at UC Davis looks at how Californians use Sakai
UC Davis is hosting a free, open seminar on April 2 to discuss how California institutions of higher education are using Sakai. The campus is invited.
Sakai is the open-source software that powers SmartSite, the main UC Davis system that faculty, students and staff use to manage coursework and collaborate on work online. RSmart, a commercial affiliate of Sakai that hosts SmartSite, is collaborating with UC Davis on the seminar and providing lunch.
The event seeks to bring together a wide variety of people who use Sakai so they can ask questions, share best practices, compare technologies and pedagogies, and more.
The agenda:
- 10 to 11:30: Welcome and profile of Sakai at UC Davis
- Noon to 1: Hosted lunch and discussion with your peers
- 1 to 3: Two simultaneous roundtable discussions:
- --"Enterprise Sakai: Existing Sakai institutions will share their experiences and find common ground for deeper collaboration."
- --"Adopting Sakai: Community members will introduce Sakai to newcomers and answer questions on adoption, implementation, support, functionality, instructional design, community participation, and more."
From 3 to 3:30, the closing keynote will address "Sakai's Future: A Community of Innovation"
