Faculty Users of SmartSite, a new group hosted by Andy Jones, will meet for the first time at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, in the large conference room at 1310 Surge III.

Jones, a continuing lecturer in the University Writing Program, became the academic associate director of Academic Technology Services for Information and Educational Technology this summer. His goals include strengthening ties between IET and faculty, particularly involving SmartSite.

This new group is part of the outreach.

"We will discuss the joys and challenges of teaching in the mediated ways we do, and share strategies for teaching student-centered classes that take advantage of SmartSite tools and resources," Jones said.

The group will routinely meet for an hour on the first Friday of each month. No RSVP is needed, although Jones invites interested faculty to contact him at aojones@ucdavis.edu.
