UC Davis Canvas releases simplified cross-listing tool

A new tool that helps instructors combine enrollments from multiple course sections into one primary course site is now available in UC Davis Canvas.

The Cross-listing Assistant improves on the previous Canvas process for combining sections, which was complex for courses with multiple sections. As an interim measure, Canvas Support has been offering to cross-list sections for any UC Davis instructor upon request.

Improving the process has been a top goal this fall for the Information and Educational Technology team that manages UC Davis Canvas.

IET adapted the Cross-listing Assistant from a tool created by the University of Indiana. It uses a checkbox-style interface, and more naturally combines other sections into the course in which an instructor is working.

Cross-listing is helpful for instructors who teach several sections of the same course and want to manage course data in one location.

Find instructions for using the tool in the UC Davis Knowledge Base. If you have questions or comments, please contact the UC Davis Canvas program team.
